Trekkers who are less than absolutely confident about their fitness, or who are pressed for time should start with the Rongai route. Those absolutely confident in their fitness and willing to spend longer on the mountain to increase the chances of summit success should start by taking a look at the Shira route. People not too worried about costs but who simply want the ultimate trek should look at the North route.

7 DAYS MT. KILIMANJARO- MARANGU ROUTE

Day 1. Depart Arusha and transfer to Capricon Hotel based at the foot of the mountain. Dinner and overnight at Capricon Hotel.
Day 2. Morning walk through the Kilimanjaro forest and spend your night at Mandara Hut. 2,700 metres above sea level.
Day 3. You start your trekking early in the morning up to Horombo Hut for dinner and overnight 3,720 metres above sea level.
Day 4. The whole trekking will take you up to Kibo hut for dinner and overnight 5,680 metres above sea level.
Day 5. For fit climbers, this day will be the final ascend to the summit before dawn, "THE UHURU PEAK" 5,895 metres above sea level. The night will be spent at Horombo Hut.
Day 6. Morning descend to Capricon Hotel where the afternoon will be at leisure. Dinner and overnight at Capricon Hotel.
Day 7. Drive back to Arusha.
